One Punch Man, initially created by ONE in 2009 as a webcomic, saw a digital manga adaptation with artwork by Yusuke Murata starting its publication on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website in June 2012. Viz Media holds the English license for the manga and is currently serializing it in Weekly Shonen Jump.

The first season of the anime, produced by Madhouse, aired from October to December 2015. Subsequently, Studio J.C. Staff took over for the second season, which aired from April to July 2019. The announcement for the third season was made in August of the preceding year. In Europe, Crunchyroll provides streaming services for the anime, offering the following synopsis:

“Saitama initially became a hero for amusement. After three years of rigorous training, he became so powerful that he could vanquish any foe with a single punch. Now, alongside his devoted cyborg disciple Genos, Saitama embarks on his official duties as a professional hero under the Hero Association. However, the frequency of monster attacks is on the rise, and it appears that the prophecy of Earth’s destruction by the Great Seer Madame Shibabawa may be coming true. In the midst of this crisis, the ominous ‘hero hunter’ Garou makes his appearance.”

The announcement from J.C. Staff follows years of speculation and misinformation surrounding the anime’s future. At one point, the official Twitter account cautioned fans against believing rumors.
