Following an investigation into suspected extreme right-wing activity, Counter Terrorism Policing North East announced the arrest of the three men at their homes last Tuesday.

A 46-year-old individual from Leicester was also taken into custody as part of the probe but was subsequently released without charge.

Police conducted searches at the residences of the trio during a pre-planned, intelligence-led operation. Warrants were granted on Wednesday to extend their detention, police confirmed.

Stewart, residing in Leeds, West Yorkshire; Pitzettu, from Derby, Derbyshire; and Ringrose, from Cannock, Staffordshire, are all charged with preparing an act of terrorism under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
